Fairfield, OH

“Thank you for letting us house in your cottage. It is so nice that it made me feel at home.”
Vineland, NJ

“Since my partner and I started coming to your camp we have seen an enormous improvement in our doubles game. We are on a winning streak and we believe that the strokes and serves we developed with you are a major part of it. We are constantly joking about how many team uniforms we've acquired due to the fact that we've been moving up a level in our league every season. Thanks Joan! We'll be seeing you again soon (we are getting tired of our newest uniforms).”
Cincinnati, OH

“I owe a lot to you. You opened my eyes and let me see that I really want to play tennis, and this is what I thank you for. Plus you gave me a whole new serve.”

"Outstanding instruction! My game has definitely improved. Would recommend it to beginners and advanced players. Can't wait to go back."C.S., Int., January 2008

"This was my first tennis camp experience and it exceeded my expectations. As a single participant, I opted to stay in the Lodge for the double rate. The meals were plentiful and very filling - starting with breakfast each morning prepared by Ms. Ramey!
spaceThe tennis instruction was provided by Ms. Ramey and supplemented by an excellent college coach from Tennessee. We were fortunate to be small in number (7) and received alot of individual attention to all strokes with special emphasis on serving and return of serve. Since this was the holiday camp, it was a bit cool, but after 1-2 minutes of hitting, the jackets came off.
spaceI was very pleased with the price of this camp and all the "extras" thrown in to make us feel so welcome. I plan to attend again in the Spring and Fall of 2008 and to stay in the Lodge."—

"This school is a camp: not luxurious; more like homey and friendly. Not a "spa" experience, but I think great value. Not intimidating or stuffy, even for me, a first-time camp person. Outstanding instruction; Joan Ramey is brilliant about all matters tennis- technique, injury, strategy, history. My camp had an instructor ratio of 2.5:5; excellent. Got a lot of time with instructors, not just drilling or ball-machining."—F.V., Low Int., December 2007

"no frills, max court time for your dollar. bottom line - a camp is either going to be a vacation with tennis sprinkled in or an intense tennis camp that happens to be away from home. this is the latter. you will play for a long time, get good critique, pick up some tips, and meet nice people. it's a boot camp, and you're not going there to be pampered. you will leave with some good tips and feeling more confident about your game. Joan and the crew know what they're looking at and you'll hear it. VALUE!"—M.G., Adv. Int., November 2007

"i had an outstanding experience. the instruction was very thoughtful and personalized. i learn more in 3 days than i thought i could have in 2 weeks. if you follow instruction and ask questions, then you will have a great time."—B.D., Int., November 2007

"This program is for players serious about improving stroke production and game strategy. Joan Ramey is a remarkable diagnostician when it comes to improving strokes. Her facility is a bit weathered but the courts are fine, the food is good, and the hospitality is wonderful. She has the players stay in local, new, medium-priced hotels, the charges for which are covered by the camp tuition.
spaceThe Owensboro, KY, area is beautiful and easy to navigate. Two years ago I went to a very expensive tennis camp at a 5 star resort with a big name tennis pro who actually taught the classes himself and that program was not nearly as beneficial to my game as Joan Ramey's has been. I have a new serve, a brand new two-handed backhand, and better overall play.
spaceI started playing tennis 17 years ago as an adult and have had many lessons. Joan Ramey and her young pros are by far the best at improving one's strokes. I will return to this camp next spring. Joan Ramey's program is by far the best value for the dollar. I was alone but the other players were friendly, making me feel quite comfortable.
spaceIf you want a romantic, vacation, resort-type tennis camp with a spiffy pro shop, you will need to go elsewhere. If you are serious about your tennis, this program is tops."—

"I arrived at Joan's camp a 4.0 player trying to move up, but being killed at the 4.5 level. Within minutes of my arrival she found 9 errors in my best stroke. Wow. And the way she taught me the corrections was perfect. She used a series of progressions that felt too basic at first, but that let me see why my errors were costing me consistency, placement, and even power.
spaceShe has a masterful eye for flaws, a tremendous knowledge of the game and a real skill in communicating lessons understandably and enjoyably.

spaceMy camp was attended by players ranging from 1.5 to 4.0. Everyone received the same attention, understood the lessons, and made great improvements. In private discussions with the other campers, I found that everyone agreed that the teaching was balanced and helpful for all. I came away feeling stronger in 11 basic strokes. We covered a lot of ground! Some strokes received helpful tweaks and adjustments, while others (Can you say, "forehand volley?") were torn down to the ground and rebuilt completely.
spaceEvery part of the stay was completely cared for from the heart: food, lodging, water (lots of water - it gets hot), and cameraderie, but this is a tennis camp rather than a resort. The focus of everything is to patiently, thoroughly build each camper into a complete tennis player. It's not a "getaway" kind of a place, but it was the best tennis money I ever spent."—

"Ramey Tennis School provides a tremendous experience for the player looking to seriously improve their game. Joan Ramey has a wealth of experience and knowledge that we have yet to experience from any other tennis professional and dedicates and commits her personal time to help the player reach and achieve their goals. I enthusiastically endorse her camp and will make this an annual venture."—S.W., April

"This Tennis camp was amazing! The instruction from Joan was fabulous. The way she breaks things down and explains them to you is great. She makes tennis easier to learn and much more fun to play. Practicing your homework is a must and very very helpful. Wonderful atmosphere and her meals are out of this world good old home cooking. Wonderful staff and great instruction and very personalized instruction too. Just a fantastic place to learn the game. I plan to go twice a year next year. Joan is truly an inspiration to us all!!!"—C.Y., August

"Mrs. Ramey has an anylitical eye for biomechanics. She spots problem areas quickly and addresses them with helpful corrections. She teaches extremely well and tirelessly. I learned a tremendous amount and will apply the principles in my game of tennis. I feel that my understanding of the sport has rocketed and can't wait to play my next match."

"Our USTA tennis team went for a week-end of tennis camp (Friday afternoon to Sunday afternoon). The ratio was 4:1 with progressive instruction on the strokes which we as a group indicated we needed to work on. Mrs. Ramey really knew her tennis and the men instructors were great.
spaceWe worked very hard but at the same time it was very enjoyable. She served us food at the facility that was very nutritional and tasty. Our sleeping accommodations were at the Holiday Express a few miles down the road. A great value for the dollar."

"I've played tennis for many years but found out that I still had a lot to learn. I learned how to serve better and corrected my backhand grip. The staff was great and the meals were wonderful. It was a very strenuous workout every day - almost like tennis boot camp.
Ms. Ramey really knows tennis and how to teach. Six members of our team attended and all felt that they had learned a lot. It was such a great experience that we are planning to go again. I wish I could have had such great instruction before I started playing but better late than never.
I would highly recommend the Ramey Tennis School to anyone who would like to improve their game. Be sure to take some team members along - it would be sad if you improved your rating and left your friends behind."

"Best camp I have been to. The instruction was great. I just wish I had gone to this camp sooner. Casual, relaxed atmosphere. I would recommend this camp to anyone that wants to improve their tennis game!!!"—L.T., August

"I attended this camp based on the recommendation of Tennis Magazine Top 25 camps. Definitely a "hard core" camp. If you want to improve your tennis game, this is the camp to go to. We received VERY personal attention and instruction. Joan is very detailed in her approach to teaching and in observant and "in tune" to her students. I can't imagine anywhere else you could focus 16 hours on your game in a 48-hour time-frame. Not a luxury resort, but exactly what I was looking for. We only used the indoor courts which were in remarkable condition."
M.S., April

I learned about this camp in an article in TENNIS magazine article on "Maximum Tennis,"(Nov. 2001). It was totally right, this is a camp where you will spend a lot of time on the courts. This is not a fancy resort. Joan Ramey is an excellent teacher. My only regret is I do not live close enough to take advantage of her lessons more often."
